In April, 2021, the Waking Women Healing Institute hosted a virtual event for tribal community leaders to hear from AMBER Alert Training and Technical Assistance Program team members, Tyesha Wood and Pamela Foster, on the AMBER Alert in Indian Country program. As part of this presentation, Ms. Wood provided an overview of the Ashlynne Mike AMBER Alert in Indian Country Act of 2018 and discussed resources available to assist tribes with developing AMBER Alert plans in their communities. In addition, Ms. Foster also shared with participants the story of her daughter, Ashlynne, and advocated for tribes to implement an AMBER Alert plan in their own tribal communities.

The Waking Women Healing Institute provides training and education that addresses and prevents Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) issues. Additionally, the Waking Women Healing Institute provides direct services for MMIW families and survivors of sexual violence.
